SYNTHESIS AND ABSORPTION SPECTRA OF INDOTRICARBOCYANINE DYES WITH ELECTRON-DONATING GROUPS IN THE MESO-POSITION OF THE POLYMETHINE CHAIN

Recently, a large number of studies have been dedicated to chemistry and physical stu­dies polymethine dyes, especially the functio­na­lized symmetrical heptamethinecyanines based on indole derivatives. Due their unique versatile spectral properties, which lie in near infrared region (NIR), meso-substituted indotricarbocyanine dyes are widely used various biological fields. In present work, we developed methods synthesis series with di- trimethylene bridging groups γ,γ'-positions donor substituents meso-position chromophore studied effects properties dyes. The obtained data indicated that change substituent presence poly­me­thylene allow vary signi­ficantly absorption maxima synthesized indoheptamethinecyanine without altering length chain. It was shown electron-donating nitrogen-containing lead, according Forster-Dewar-Knott rule, hypsochromic shifts maxima. However, it found methoxy group some cases exhibited unexpected "acceptor" due certain steric hindrance, resulting red shift band, contrast other substituents. Additionally, insertion chain cyanine were studied. indotricarbocyanines demonstrated significant solvatochromism near-infrared regions.
